(KOICA) Strengthening Innovation Entrepreneurship based on ICT in Peru

Peru

GDC Consulting takes the role of the project management in the KOICA project, ‘Strengthening Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship based on ICT in Peru.’

 

Peru is making national efforts to revitalize innovative start-ups with the goal of strengthening national competitiveness.

 

We provide the program design and performance management services for an innovative start-up accelerating program suitable for Peru, in collaboration with the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation of Peru (CONCYTEC), the Peruvian International Cooperation Agency (APCI), and the local universities.

 

By this project management consulting service, we expect to lay the foundation for start-up ecosystems and to revitalize innovative entrepreneurship in Peru.​

(KOICA) Establishment and Operation of KOICA ODA Business Support Center (KODABIZ)

GDC Consulting led the initial settlement and operation of the KOICA's ODA Business Support Center (KODABIZ) in the first year of its establishment.​

We provided up-to-date information on global procurement markets as well as training programs to strengthen Korean companies' ability to win contracts in the global ODA market. We delivered customized consulting services for selected companies to help enter the global ODA procurement market. Our team also created a database of successful vendors at UN organizations and MDBs(Multilateral Development Banks) and facilitated business matchmaking of domestic and overseas companies.​

KODABIZ will serve as a bridge that promotes domestic companies’ active participation in the international procurement and contributes to successful contract awards.

(KDI) Improving Sewage Management Policies to Conserve Natural Protected Areas

Mexico
2020-2021

GDC Consulting provided a KSP (Knowledge Sharing Program) policy consultation on ‘Improving Sewage Management Policies to Conserve Natural Protected Areas in Mexico’.

We worked closely with the relevant ministries in Korea and Mexico, including CONANP(National Commission of Natural Protected Areas) and FONATUR(National Fund for Tourism Development). At the same time, our specialists conducted joint researches with the local experts in Mexico.

In addition, we shared the successful water-management experience of Korea for improvement of the relevant sectors in Mexico. We further discovered opportunities for Korean private companies to enter the Mexican water industry as well as the chance to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. 

(KEITI) Establishment of Cooperation Plans for Environmental Industries

Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka 
2020 

GDC Consulting conducts various strategic researches for key government departments and agencies of the Republic of Korea.

Since 2017, we have provided comprehensive research services for the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) to identify International Development Cooperation opportunities. 

Based on the strategies developed by our researchers, KEITI has successfully carried out the 2021 Master Plan project for Egypt, Belarus, and Sri Lanka. We also expect the research outcome to be applicable in developing cooperation strategies for the core partner countries.

(World Bank) Mining and Environmental Remediation and Improvement Project

Zambia
2019

GDC Consulting has been awarded the bid for the World Bank Project titled “Mining and Environmental Remediation and Improvement Project” through a consortium with the MIRECO(Mine Reclamation Corporation).

GDC Consulting conducted a Pre-feasibility study, which includes on-site research, institutional and economic feasibility review, stakeholder communication. The entire process was successfully carried out, from RFP review, EOI(Express of Interest), drafting and submission of project proposal, to the negotiation with the preferred bidder. 

Among 5 projects’ EOIs that GDC Consulting submitted, 3 projects were shortlisted, and one of them was awarded the contract.

(KOICA) Country Portfolio Evaluation

Philippines, Indonesia
2019-2020

GDC Consulting conducted ‘KOICA Country Portfolio Evaluation for the Philippines and Indonesia’ with Samjung KPMG. 

We designed a Portfolio Management Matrix and Operational Analysis Methodology(S-PROC diagnosis) to conduct the evaluation. The evaluation included sector and project type-based analysis of all projects implemented in the Philippines (94 projects) and Indonesia (90projects) from 2007 to 2018. 

As a result of the evaluation, we presented a sectoral program strategy for the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as the direction for KOICA’s operations.
Particularly, the necessity of shifting perspectives from a stand-alone project to an integrated project planning and management under the coherent strategy was addressed. We expect that our strategies contribute to the improvement of KOICA’s National Program and Country Plan(CP).

(Ukraine) 10MW Biomass Power Plant Project Financing

Ukraine 
2017-2018 

GDC Consulting has strong cooperative relationships with the Zaporizhia state government and local private companies, which share the goal of promoting successful renewable energy projects in Ukraine. In 2016, we signed an MOU with the Zaporizhia state government and a sole agency agreement with the largest solar energy company in Ukraine, Tokmak Solar Energy, to gain the mandate to solely attract Korean investment. 
 
Currently, Ukraine has the highest Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT) for renewable energy sources in Europe and receives strong supports from MDBs including EBRD. Understanding the significant investment value, GDC Consulting conducted a feasibility study for a biomass and photovoltaic projects in 2017 with leading domestic engineering firms, S* company and G* company. In addition, GDC Consulting is offering project finance advisory to potential investors. 

(KIAT) Feasibility Study for Energy Independent Village

Myanmar
2017-2018

According to Myanmar’s National Electricity Plan (NEP) published in 2014, the government plans to expand the national grid to all territory by 2030 and increase independent off-grid renewable power systems in the remote areas. 

GDC Consulting designed an independent solar power project in Mon state, Myanmar with Korean ODA fund, and conducted a pre-feasibility study and basic design with the support of KIAT and Mon state government and in collaboration with E* company.



The outcome of this project includes bid information of solar projects procured by MDBs and bid participation strategy for domestic energy companies interested in Myanmar. In addition, we are supporting Korean companies enter Myanmar’s energy market by leveraging the relationship with the central and local government.

(KEXIM) Supporting the Modernization of Vietnam Fire& Rescue, Police Department

Vietnam
2017-2018 

The Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) Policy Consulting is funded by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF) in Korea to support the socio-economic development of partner countries. 

GDC Consulting successfully conducted a KSP policy consultation for the Vietnamese Fire, Rescue and Police Department. The scope of work included policy case study, action plan for fire suppression & rescue, and capacity building.

 

In 2015, we conducted a feasibility study for ‘Improvement of firefighting equipment project in Vietnam’ with Korea Fire-fighting Institute (KFI) to supply fire trucks and fire prevention equipment under the ODA loan.

Since then, we have maintained a cooperative relationship with the Ministry of Public Security and Fire and Rescue Police Department in Vietnam. In addition, we offer advisory service to the Vietnam Fire and Disaster Prevention Agency when requested. 

(KIAT) Feasibility Study for Smart Power Transmission and Transformation Project

Tanzania 
2016 

GDC Consulting established a masterplan for increasing Korean companies’ international project awards in 2015 to present emerging market entry strategy through Korean ODA funds.

We designed a systematic ODA Model that promotes Industrial Technology by selecting 10 focus countries and 5 focus sectors, as well as proposing 12 target projects after analyzing country demand, national ODA strategy and development effectiveness.

‘Smart Power Transmission and Transformation Project’ was one of the 12 target projects which aimed to improve the unstable electricity system in Tanzania. 
We reviewed the technical and economic feasibility of the project and designed the project model with the size and facilities appropriate for the local condition. 
Furthermore, we presented plans for carrying out the follow up projects considering ODA funds.

Finally, the project proposed by GDC Consulting was approved by the Korean government and included in the 2018-2019 ODA plan for Tanzania.
